The Millennial generation is huge — nearly 84 million strong — and diverse, so it’s no wonder that the television industry is having a hard time pinning down this generation’s tastes. Streaming services and the ease with which you can record shows to watch later have created a perfect storm for tech-dependent Millennials to curate their own personal TV watching experience.
“Millennials are the most diverse generation of adults in U.S. history, so that’s a big issue for the entertainment industry,” said Jason Dorsey, in an interview with the New York Times. “How do we program for such a diverse generation that doesn’t carry checkbooks, a lot of whom don’t carry cash, most of whom are delaying marriage and kids and have a high expectation of diversity and more college debt?”
